Career
The lady started her career with the passenger service department at Abu Dhabi airport. After that, she came back to India and started living in Thiruvanthapuram, Kerela with her daughter.
She started working in a travel agency in Thiruvanthapuram for almost two years. After that, she again changed her job and this time she started working with Air India Stats in 2013.
After that in 2016, she again went to Abu Dhabi where she worked as a secretary of the Consulate General in the UAE Consulate.
Here also she left the job, but some reports suggest that she was expelled from her job due to her irregular behavior. But apart from that, the lady made big contacts during her career in Abu Dhabi as well as India.
Swapna Suresh Gold Smuggling
Swapna Suresh came into limelight when the customs department has seized 30 Kg of gold from diplomatic baggage at Thiruvanthapuram airport on 5 July 2020.
After investigation, it was found that she has big connections in India as well as Abu Dhabi. She has links with the IT secretary of the government in Kerala, Mr. M. ShivaShankar, and many other higher officials.
Even the minister has refused that she has no contact with her the government had to remove him from his position currently.
She was using diplomatic immunity to carry on her gold smuggling racket. From her past job as a UAE consulate, she had made forged documents to get diplomatic immunity.
The gold smuggler uses models and actresses to smuggle her gold and also take help from a former PRO at the UAE consulate based in Kerala. She was also involved in many forgery cases before this case.
Previously she was investigated by the crime branch in a forgery case when she was working Air India Stats where she had made false allegations on an officer of the ground handling department in Air India, LS Sibhu.
Police have investigated her big contacts and found that she was working with Kerala State IT Infrastructure as an operational manager, it was found that IT secretary M. Shivashankar has protected her everywhere and also employed her at such a crucial post.
After these allegations on her, she was sacked from her job and since then she was absconding. All opposition parties demand high-level inquiry in this case as many higher officials from the government are involved in this racket.
Since then police and customs department was looking for “deal woman” and finally with the help of the customs department they can seize the 30 Kg gold worth 13.5 crores from Thiruvanthapuram airport. Now they are searching for all those who were involved in this gang.
On 12 June 2020 Swapna Suresh arrested in Bangalore and taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency.
