Sunitha Upadrashta started her career at a very young age. She started doing live performances at the age of 6. She appeared in many musical concerts, stage shows and participated in various competitions. She also won many prestigious awards in her childhood.
She made a debut as a playback singer in the film industry at the age of 17 with the song “Ee Velalo Neevu” in the Telugu film “Gulabi” (1995).
In 1997, she debut in the Kannada music industry with the song “Kesari Haravu” in the movie “Bhoomi Geetha”. In the same year, she also sang songs for the Tamil industry and made her debut with the song “Unakkoruthi” from the film “Punniyavathi”.
Sunitha has sung over 3000 songs for Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada film industry and became one of the well-known and recognized singer.

Controversy
Sunitha Upadrashta was involved in a controversy when she slammed Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati of Sharad Peetham on her social media handles for using her name in his disciple’s list without her consent.
She took that step in reply to the Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati’s statement in which he claimed that many celebrities visit him whenever he stays in Filmnagar’s Temple in Hyderabad. He also added a list of names of his disciples in which he took the name of Sunitha Upadrashta which angered the singer.
