Sunil Lahri, famous for his role as Lakshman in Ramanand’s Ramayan was born on 9th of January to a middle class family in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. Since his childhood, he used to participate actively in the co curricular activities conducted in his school. Since then he developed a great interest in acting. After spending most of his early days in Damoh, his family decided to shift to Bhopal. This came as a great surprise for Lahri.

Sunil Lahri was born on 9th January, the year of which is not known and is famously known for his work in the old age Ramayan that used to be broadcasted in Doordarshan channel. His father was a professor at Medical college in Madhya Pradesh only. Lahri spent most of his early days in Madhya Pradesh but soon got transferred to Bhopal.
Family
Sunil was born to a middle class family in Madhya Pradesh. Sunil’s father Dr. Shikhar Chandra Lahri was a professor at a medical college also in Madhya Pradesh. Sunil’s father died in the year 2012. The name of his mother is Tara Lahri. Sunil has three siblings, one sister and two brothers. The names of his brothers are Shailendra Lahri and Shashendra Lahri.
Marriage and Relationship
Sunil Lahari got married two times in his life. The first time he got married was with Radha Sen but it couldn’t work out well between the two of them. So he decided to break off the tie and married his second wife Bharati Pathak.

Sunil has a great personality that allowed him to play the role of Lakshman in Ramanand’s Ramayan. His height is approximately 5 feet 9 inch and the black colour of his eyes perfectly compliments the black colour of his hair.
Career
Sunil Lahri started his career by playing roles in TV shows. He does not have a great history when it comes to films for which he moved to Mumbai from Bhopal.
Sunil made his debut in 1980 in the film ‘The Naxalites’ directed by Ahmed Abbas which starred Mithun Chakraborty and Smita Patil in the lead roles. Although the film was a flop at the box office, Lahri did not have to struggle much to get work in Mumbai.
Movies did not do much good to Sunil and he was not much successful in that arena. So, Lahri decided to switch to a small screen where substantially he gained a big name especially when he portrayed the role of Laxman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. Not only this but he was also seen playing different roles in a number of TV serials including dada dadi ki kahaniyan and Vikram Aur betaal. In 1990, he made an appearance in yet another hit TV show named Param Vir chakra as second lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane.
Facts
- Sunil was not the first choice for the role of Laxman in Ramayan instead the director wanted to star Sanjay jog in the role. Sanjay denied the part which eventually turned out in favour of Lahri.
- After auditioning 150 actors, Sunil Lahri was finalised for the role of Lakshman.
- Sunil has opened a production house in collaboration with his Ramayan co-star Anil and was also invited by the Kapil Sharma show along with his team.
