Thompson made her debut at the age of 15 in a rendition of the classic play ‘A traveller in time’. In 1988 she played the iconic character of Ophelia in the classic play ‘Hamlet’ by the Renaissancetheatre production company in Birmingham. A detailed behind the scenes version of the play was released in 1990 and later in 2010.
In 1996 she was a part of Sam Mendes’s rendition of the classic play called ‘Company’. She was nominated for the coveted Olivier award for her performance.
