Nancy’s career began when she auditioned for Korea’s Got Talent as part of a hip-hop group, Cutie Pies, which reached up to the semi-final round of the program in 2011.
She was also a former trainee of Nega Network.
As soon as she turned a teenager, Nancy started featuring in several TV programs. These include The Unlimited, Mak Ee Rae Show: Just Do It Expedition in 2012.
During the Mak Ee Rae Show, Nancy also traveled to the Philippines and Saipan and she was partnered by the South Korean actress Kim Yoo-jung.
Nancy next participated in the reality survival show of Mnet titled Finding Momoland, where she appeared as a contestant. The show was based on the concept of finding a later group that would be named Momoland. It was designed as a show to select the members of the group Momoland.
Nancy finished the competition in the second palace. She had her career debut with the group on November 10, 2016. The first album with Momoland was titled Welcome to Momoland. She performed at M Countdown, which was her debut stage performance.
According to the reports, Nancy was supposed to join Inkigayo’s project girl group Sunny Girls on November 19, 2016, along with her GFriend’s Eunha, WJSN’s Cheng Xiao, Oh My Girl’s YooA, and Gugudan’s Nayoung.
The group made their official debut at SBS’s Inkigayo stage on November 27, 2016, where they performed the title track “Taxi”. Furthermore, the group also performed at the SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 26, 2016.
Momoland released the single “Wonderful Love” in April 2017. The group’s second mini-album, Freeze! was released on August 22, 2017. Great! was the third mini-album by Momoland, which was released on January 3, 2018. The album was a major success and especially its lead single, “Bboom Bboom,” turned into a huge commercial success, which helped the same reach the number two position on the Gaon Digital Chart.
The fourth mini-album that Momoland released is titled Fun to the World, which consisted of the popular single “Baam,” which eventually made it to the 15th spot of the best-selling song of July 2018 on the Gaon Music Chart.
Nancy Jewel McDonie is loaded with numerous projects that are yet to be released. Filipino miniseries titled The Soulmate Project, which was announced by the Philippines, ABS-CBN, and Dreamscape Entertainment on October 4, 2019; Nancy will be cast as Binna, a Korean-American living in the Philippines. According to an interview with ABS-CBN News, the director, and writer Antoinette Jadaone announced that the series will have 13 episodes in total and will be “more akin to a Korean drama” in 2019.
