In 2009, he played New Boeing Boeing (an adaptation of the French drama of the very same name), which he revisited in 2013. He had successful outcomes in the acclaimed Daehakro (off-Broadway) productions Rooftop House Cat and Goal of Love, both of which were romantic comedies.
Subsequently in his career, he diversified his palette with darker roles, gaining critical praise for films like True West and Kiss of the Spider Woman in 2015.
He also appeared in film Closer in 2016.
Kim rose to his stardom with the 2017 drama Good Manager.
He was selected by the producer Lee-Eun-jin after he witnessed Kim performing in the play Closer. Kim’s next production, Strongest Deliveryman, for which he originally auditioned for a supporting part, marks his first onscreen debut in a lead role.
Later the same year, he acted as a clever conman in the action-comedy Two Cops, earning him two MBC Drama Awards nominations.
