Career
Gupteshwar Pandey started his career as Superintendent of Police in Bihar after he cleared the UPSC exam in 1987 batch. After that, he served as the SP in few major districts in Bihar, and then he served as Inspector General of police at Tirhut Division Muzaffarpur Range, Bihar.
During, his service as IG of police he started many initiatives to curb crime and to make police more people-friendly throughout the state of Bihar.
He also traveled across Bihar and campaigned for alcohol ban in November 2015, when the Bihar government banned the alcohol in their state. His campaign was supported by many peoples and especially women take part in his campaign to a great extent.
Recently he made the headlines after he expressed discontent as Patna’s IPS officer Vinay Tiwari was forcibly quarantined by civic authorities in Mumbai.

He also added that it was already informed to Maharashtra government that he was coming for official work. He also stated that he didn’t secretly come to Mumbai and also requested a stay at the IPS mess and for a vehicle before he left for Mumbai.
He stated that Bihar police will write to BMC to express their discontent over the matter.

In an interview, DGP Gupteshwar Pandey stated that he failed in his 11th class examinations as he was weak in subjects like physics and chemistry. He also revealed that up to the 6th standard he doesn’t even know about the English alphabets.
