Death
George Washington Carver had a nasty tumble one day when he returned home; a maid discovered him unconscious and transported him to a hospital. Following this accident, he succumbed to complications (anemia) and died on 5 January 1943, at the age of 79. At Tuskegee University, he was laid to rest next to Booker T. Washington. His life savings totaled $60,000, all of which he bequeathed to the Carver Museum and the George Washington Carver Foundation in his later years and after his death.
