Ben Roethlisberger started his career by playing at Miami University. In high school, Roethlisberger led the football, basketball, and baseball teams. Ryan Hite, the coach’s son, replaced Ben Roethlisberger in his senior year. Instead, he was a wide receiver. “I’m a nationally famous knucklehead,” Hite stated in a 2004 interview with the Toledo Blade, although he denied it was due to nepotism or calculation. He never publicly scolded Hite for preferring Ryan above his son Ben. As he said, “The coach made the call. You generate both good and bad. And I’m not even saying this was a bad one.
