Career
Yuzuru Hanyu started his career as a figure skater. In the 2004–05 season, he made her national debut as a novice skater.
At the 2004 Japan Novice Championships, he competed in the Novice B division and took home the gold medal. Financial difficulties forced his rink to shut, limiting his practice time.
Nanami Abe took over as His coach when Shichir Tsuzuki was transferred to a new rink and coached him until 2012 when he moved to Brian Orser.
When he competed in the 2006 Japan Novice Championships, he earned the bronze medal in the Novice A division.
