Dave Bautista started his career as a wrestler with WWE. Buddy Lee Parker informed him he would never make it in the wrestling industry when he tried out at the WCW Power Plant.
The WWF suggested he train with Afa Anoa’i at the Wild Samoan Training Center, where he trained and competed in Anoa’i’s World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) company.
On 30 October 1999, he debuted as Khan. Marrese Crump taught Bautista Muay Thai and Eskrima. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu just promoted him to purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
On 6 October 2012, at Classic Entertainment and Sports: Real Pain in Providence, Rhode Island, he was set to fight Rashid Evans (not Rashad Evans). On 1 October 2012, Evans was pushed out of the fight due to a probation violation. Vince Lucero, a 40-fight veteran, replaced Evans. He won the bout via TKO at 4:05 of the first round.
